But he has announced that he is now president according to Afghan law.
It may be recalled that Panjshir province is under the control of the Somali Alliance but negotiations with the Taliban in the Northern Alliance have been successful after which there will be no more wars.
The North Alliance has announced its opposition after Taliban took power in Kabul. Amanullah, a member of the Taliban cultural commission, said there was no resistance when the village entered. However, a member of the Panjshir Valley Resistance Force has denied the allegations in the Taliban. Muhammad Almas Zahid, a member of the opposition negotiating team, said no war had taken place in Panjshir and no one had entered.
He also added that if the talks do not succeed, there will be negative consequences, which will pave the way for war and foreign intervention. Negotiations are ongoing and both sides have recently agreed not to attack each other.
It should be noted that the Panjshir Valley is the last stronghold against the Taliban and besides, they have gained control of almost all of Afghanistan. Ahmed Masood has announced that he would rather die than surrender to the Taliban. Afghanistan's Panjshir province is still undefeated and the Taliban have not been able to enter. Panjshir was previously part of the province of Parwan which was given a separate provincial status in 2004.
