Ashok Sakit's operation lasted for five hours at Rewa's Sanjay Gandhi Hospital and a team of eight doctors worked on the operation.

There was a lot of discussion on the amputation of Ashok Sakit's hand in Dol village of Sarmor police station in Rewa district. It was reported that on November 20, some people cut off Ashok's hand after an argument over a Rs 5,000 wage.

Sanjay Gandhi Medical College spokesperson Dr Yatnish Tripathi said the man had his hand amputated when he was brought in and it was a difficult task.

It would have been better if such a patient had been operated on within six hours, but there was a delay in bringing Ashok. When he was brought in, he was bleeding profusely," he said.

Doctors said their first goal was to save the worker's life. After making a difficult decision, the doctors performed the operation so that the person could live his life properly.

"We hope to have good news after seven days and the patient's hand will be completely healed and fully functional."

Dr. Tripathi added, "We hope that after seven days the good news will come and the patient's hand will be completely healed and will start working fully."

What happened

In the incident that took place on Saturday, Ashok Sakit and Standar Sakit, residents of Padri area, had gone to Dol village at the house of a man named Ganesh Mishra to settle accounts.

During the reckoning, a dispute arose between landlord Ganesh Mishra and Ashok Sakit over five thousand rupees. The matter escalated so much that Ganesh Mishra attacked Ashoka with the sword he had with him. In this attack, one of Ashok's hands was cut off and separated.

After the incident, Ashok's accomplice Stander took him to the police station, after which the police took him to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in the city and a team of police went to look for the amputated hand.He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to police, the sword was placed under a bed in Ganesh Mishra's house. During the discussion, the enraged Ganesh Mishra attacked Ashoka with this sword. His ear was cut off and his shoulder was severely injured in the attack.

According to police, after the incident, Ganesh Mishra called one of his relatives Krishna Kumar Mishra for help so that he could run away and also asked one of his brothers to destroy the evidence.

But in the meantime, the police moved in and arrested the accused and his accomplices.

Rewa Superintendent of Police Nonit Bhasin said, "All the accused were arrested as soon as the information was received."

He said that the accused cut off Ashok's hand and hid him in a field after an argument over money. After that, the police reached the spot and had to find the accused on one side and Ashok's hand on the other side so that he could be taken to the hospital as soon as possible.

The first incident in Rewa

Rewa social worker Shivanand Dwivedi says this is the first case of non-payment of wages in the area.

However, similar incidents have taken place in Madhya Pradesh in the past.

Last year, a laborer in Gana district was burnt alive with kerosene for allegedly defaulting on a loan of only Rs 5,000.

People from the local NGO called it a matter of bonded labor but the government called it a matter of borrowing.
