Islamabad news world. DW November 27, 2021 - The Social Democratic Party (SPD), the Green Party and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) agree on an agreement to form a new coalition government in Germany. The 177-page agreement also agreed to make several changes to the country's migration policy.
Mentioning the reasons for these changes, the agreement states, "We want to introduce a new policy on migration and social integration that is in line with current migration requirements.
"
Easy acquisition of German citizenship
Parties in Germany's next federal government have also agreed to make it easier for foreigners to obtain German citizenship.
Changes to citizenship laws will make it possible to obtain national citizenship after five years in Germany.
Citizenship can be obtained for three years if the immigrant has completed a course of social integration.
The FDP also wants relaxation of the conditions for German language courses for foreigners coming to work in Germany.
Dual citizenship is also possible
Immigrants living in Germany will also be able to retain the citizenship of their homeland after acquiring German citizenship. Under current law, this facility is available only to residents of a few other countries, including countries in the European Union.
Germany is by far the least EU country with the lowest number of dual nationals.
It will also make it easier for refugees living in Germany to find permanent residency. The agreement states, "Coalition parties will improve the traditional national immigration policy and provide unconditional opportunities for permanent residency, employment and social integration to those living in Germany who must reside in Germany."
"
Coalition parties want to prevent illegal immigration and make it easier for people to come and work in Germany legally.
Chancellor Merkel's party has reservations about the rules
Chancellor Merkel's conservative Christian Democratic Party (CDU), which has ruled Germany for the past 16 years, has expressed strong reservations about the agreement between the parties joining the coalition government.
CDU leaders say that if the next government introduces such laws, then a large number of foreigners will turn to Germany for illegal immigration.
On the other hand, refugee rights groups have welcomed the agreement reached by the parties in the coalition government.
